The
Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel
The
Lay Institute of the Brothers of Saint Gabriel is in the Church a religious
Institute of consecrated life of Pontifical right.
Its beginning goes back to Saint Louis Marie de Montfort whose spirituality
and the missionary dynamism ever guide and inspire its members. The
Congregation received the approbation of the Holy See on the 19th of
February 1910.
By its origin and history, the Brothers of Saint Gabriel belong to the
Montfortian family; hence its privileged relationship and co-operation
with the Missionaries of the Company of Mary and the Daughters of Wisdom.
The
Brothers dedicate themselves to God by the profession of the evangelical
counsels lived out in fraternal communities. Their main mission is education,
particularly that of the youth, poor children those who are abandoned,
maladjusted or handicapped in any way.
The
Gabrielite Secretariat for Justice and Peace
(GSJP)
Set
up at the request of the 29th General Chapter, "to co-ordinate
our work for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation" (Message
2.2 p. 30), the Gabrielite Secretariat for Justice and Peace is in charge
of promoting a "just Society for the Kingdom" through information,
reflection and action, especially in matters of partnership and solidarity.
