There
are many religious congregations, NGO's, and international organizations
that are contributing their might to bring about a just and peaceful
world. Fully conscious of a harmonious universe where nature is
not ruthlessly exploited, all of them have targeted some burning
issues in the area of their work. Aware of these important problems
on justice, peace and ecology, let us prioritize our targets and
join hands with the rest in tackling them.
Debt
Cancellation
Many countries are still forced to spend more on debt repayments
than on education and health. The UN estimates that 19, 000 children
die each day as a direct result of debt.
What can we
do?
a) Add your name to a letter from
the Holy Cross Congregation to the World Bank/ IMF calling for
immediate expanded debt relief (http://www.holycrossjustice.org).
b) Join campaigns to make U.S. and
Canadian corporations more accountable for their activities around
the world (English, French, and Spanish). http://www.devp.org
c) Visit these websites to have more
ideas for actions:
